Happy 50th Episode to Killer Cuties Podcast! A family comes together for the holidays, but a lack of Christmas spirit threatens to end the celebration in tragedy. Starring Toni Collette and Adam Scott.
[00:00:00] Hello and welcome to the Killer Cuties Podcasts. Where you're hosts, I'm Cassidy and I've seen almost every horror movie out there. We've got our guests, our staff here from the Chasing Childhood podcast and she's chosen the movie for today. A seasonal special, Krampus. Let's get spooky!
[00:00:41] Yes, we are so excited to have staff here from Chasing Childhood. So if we love for you to introduce yourself, tell the people where to listen to Chasing Childhood. Hey, yeah, super excited to be here. You can listen to Chasing Childhood on Spotify, Apple Music.
[00:00:59] Basically anywhere you can get your podcasts or also on Facebook and Instagram at Chasing Childhood Podcast. And I think on Facebook is just Chasing Childhood. So get by, yes, there. Yeah, cool, listen. This is a threat. She's serious too.
[00:01:20] Yeah, yeah. Okay, so before we kick off on the movie that's definitely chose, we wanted to ask you a couple questions, you know, get your vibes on the horse fairs. Since we know you're another horror girl like us. So what? What is it?
[00:01:38] I'm a city force this life upon me. Honestly kind of what I do. Thought this podcast started. It's like, okay, you don't watch horror movies? You do now. What is your favorite horror movie of all time? My favorite horror movie of all time is the Blair Witch Project.
[00:02:00] Oh, hell yeah. Our first episode. Yeah, I was really excited when you guys did it. And I was like listening to that right now. Sorry, yeah, I should not edit it all. No, it's fine. I think I first watched it when like the, what is it?
[00:02:16] Paranormal activity started dropping. So like that genre was getting revamped and become a popular again. So I already knew that it was fake. So I think I like lost some of the like scare factor in knowing that it was real. So I just like it.
[00:02:29] I think it's like vibes and it takes place in Maryland where I live. It kind of adds to the suspense. Yeah, I found footage is one of my favorites. Oh yeah, probably. What movie got you into horror?
[00:02:43] Even if it's not where which, what movie got you into it? The first movie I think I ever watched was the sixth sense. So another Tony Colette movie was, yeah. This movie obviously Grandpa's. That was Tony Colette or horror queen.
[00:02:56] But yeah, that was the first one I watched and that was actually really scary to me as a kid. And watching it now, I'm like, okay, less scary. But at the time I was like, this is the worst thing I've ever seen in my whole life.
[00:03:07] And I don't want to watch horror again and then I grew up and I was like, actually that was kind of fun. Let's do it again. And now here I am. Yeah, that makes sense.
[00:03:17] I feel like there's always like a section of your life for your kind of like maybe I actually hate or movies. Yeah. And then you just exposure their peers. Oh, you like forced it upon yourself. Yeah, or I forced it upon yourself.
[00:03:34] Oh, what's there? Are there anyone you just absolutely hate? How absolutely hate the later saw movies and you and I have talked about this. Cassidy showed me all of the saw movies. And I only like the first three because they're the only ones with an actual cohesive plot.
[00:03:49] And after that, they just become like horror porn and like gore porn. And I don't love that. Yeah, that's fair. You should absolutely watch. So I was just going to, I was just going to see the gentleman.
[00:04:02] I have not because I watch all of them with Cassidy and I don't live near her anymore. So I can't just like lay on her couch and watch them. Yeah. That is, oh yeah. Am I have to visit you? Yeah, I'm over.
[00:04:17] Do you have a favorite in least we've ever genre of horror? Oh, gore porn, obviously. It's not even that I like, I'm afraid of gore porn. I just think it's like gratuitous. I think by actual least favorite or like possession movies,
[00:04:30] I've never seen the exorcist because I just don't like the idea of like, why are you in here? Like, you don't want to share a body with me. Like, it's not a good time. So I don't like those.
[00:04:41] I think my favorites though are like, and they're the scariest ones. They're like the home break in ones. And like, the ones that are actually like real life scary. I like those because I actually feel afraid. She's just like me for real for real. Yeah, yeah.
[00:04:57] Pull our opportunity just like Ashley. I was talking about how scary like this stranger's was when I first watched it. He's like, this isn't this isn't horror. This is crying. It's not scary. It's got the scariest line of all time. It's so scary.
[00:05:15] But so my thought process there is like, I could stab it in truetor. What am I going to do with the ghost is in my house? You're not going to stab the intruder. You're going to stab Glenn from it's always like him. That was all point. Not Dennis.
[00:05:34] What are the point of this? Oh. Are there any more movies that you haven't seen yet, but you're really excited to watch? Oh, good question. I don't know.
[00:05:51] I feel like there's a lot of campy horror movies that I haven't seen that people keep telling me about that I really want to watch. I do enjoy like a good silly like zombie vs. And those types of movies. So I do want to see some of those.
[00:06:03] I actually just recently watched Parisite for the first time. I hadn't watched that before. Oh my god. I got it. I know. I know. That's like a list of movies I think everybody should see totally. Yeah.
[00:06:16] That would have been mine if I hadn't just watched it like three weeks ago. So. I don't know. Yeah, I stuff and I went to Vegas once. And we were like, should we go out? And I was like, or we could stay in watch some beavers.
[00:06:31] And then I made her and her husband do that. And Steph was thrilled. I think her husband was a little bit not as thrilled. I think he'd like it on a rewatch. We should make a watch it again. I think we should make him rewatch it multiple times.
[00:06:50] All right. Well, thank you so much. We're so excited to have you. And we're really excited to talk about crampus, which you picked. Perfect timing to just the season. Yeah. Shall I kick us off with a quick summary? Please do. Yes. Okay.
[00:07:07] It says quick as I could make it. Okay. So Tom and Sarah, their kids Beth and Max and Grandma owe me are preparing for the arrival of Sarah's sister Linda in her family for Christmas.
[00:07:18] Linda Howard, how we junior, Stevie Jordan, baby Chrissy and Dorothy and their dog Rosie arrived immediately causing tension with their lack of manners and lack of Christmas spirit. It ultimately causes Max to lash out wishing that his whole family would be gone and that Christmas will be over.
[00:07:35] Tears up a letterment for Santa and throws it out as window. Later that evening as severe blizzard arrives and Beth ventures out to check on her boyfriend and the local area where she sees a large horned creature and is attacked by a jack in the box.
[00:07:48] She's not return home, sparking Tom and Howard to initiate a recon mission where they discover Beth's boyfriends house destroyed an eerie clues pointing to a monster attack.
[00:07:58] She returned home to fortify the house, but one by one the family is attacked by holiday characters like sentient gingerbread men and elves.
[00:08:07] During the carnage, only explains that the creature hunting them is Krampus, a demon who punishes those who lose the Christmas spirit and that she encountered Krampus as a child during the war in Europe.
[00:08:18] Krampus and his helper stragged everyone except her to hell leaving behind a bell-shaped bubble with his name on it. Max is the only remaining survivor he meets Krampus and receives his fellowship bubble, ultimately realizing only story is true.
[00:08:31] He offers himself as a sacrifice and a desperate attempt to save his family but Krampus throws him into the fiery pits of hell as well. But, Max then wakes up on Christmas morning. His family alive and well as they celebrate the holiday.
[00:08:46] As the cameras, zooms out to reveal that they've been trapped in a magical snow globe like hundreds of other families in none other than Krampus' work. That's it? Krampus. Totally collect kind of unlucky with like fireplaces and addicts huh? Yeah, I hope the same.
[00:09:08] Not like a track record for her. Fine pretending like I know what you're talking about. You should because I'm talking about her entertains already watched. No, you're right. You're right. You're right. She's just kind of been looking in a lot of them.
[00:09:26] Yeah, well that's what happens when you're in horror movies, you know? Yeah. Um, what so why what made you pick this movie? I mean you were just talking about how you wanted to watch can be a movie so this is kind of a can be so.
[00:09:43] It is very can be. I've never seen it and I knew it was a Christmas movie like a Christmas horror movie and I was like okay well I know the 50th episode is going to be around Christmas. So I was like let's do it.
[00:09:55] And I remember when this came out that people just paned this, they hated it. And so I was like oh this is gonna be a time and we should watch it together.
[00:10:05] So that that was my primary motivation was I had a feeling it was gonna be bad and I really wanted to make sure that we watched it together. Together to solidify that.
[00:10:17] Yeah, yeah it was definitely paned. I think it's like gained a little bit more like I think now it's like it is fresh on run to made us for the critics score but like. Fair.
[00:10:31] Yeah, I saw on Reddit some people said that they watched this every year like this is a Christmas movie that their family just watches because they don't find it very scary. Go ahead. No you please. Thank you. We did one other Christmas episode.
[00:10:48] I forget was it black Friday? Black Christmas. Black Christmas. We also watched Black Friday but not for the podcast that was terrible. But I was like wanting. Sentient gingerbread going around feeling people with nail guns like that's exactly what I asked for. Not I'm not working for one.
[00:11:10] But so this like delivered it is exactly what I wanted. Thank you so much for paying us. You're so welcome. Yeah, I do I think it's it is kind of like a starter. It's not that scary. It's kind of hard to be scared when like.
[00:11:27] The South Korean playing a gingerbread man is trying to kill me. Yeah, I feel like the toys and all the like little creatures that came to life are like just not terrifying. Like they were so animated and fun.
[00:11:41] It was like the I think of a scene when like Tony Khaled is in the fireplace and the gingerbread like yells back at her. It's like that's hilarious. Like it's hard to be afraid when you're getting screamed up by a tiny little like forage cookie.
[00:11:54] And her her look of sheer like Tony Khaled terror. It's just like iconic and perfect in that scene. I love that she plays it so straight to like she doesn't even give in and she's like this is the most horrifying thing I've ever seen in my whole life.
[00:12:11] Yes, yes, she her acting is no different than it was in her edit. So true. The speaking of the rotten tomatoes grow the audience score. I think is like pretty split down the middle like 50 50 people hate it. People love it.
[00:12:30] Yeah, I think the people who love it are the people that went into it knowing it's the same guy that did trigger treat.
[00:12:35] You go into it knowing that it's him like you know it's going to be a really fun time it's going to have like beard looking puppets. And it's just going to be a romp and then the other 50% are like what the fuck am I watching?
[00:12:50] Yeah, and they don't appreciate it which is rude. That is fair though and I think a lot of the times there's certain. It's mostly like can't be horror like this that a lot of the times does get rotten scores. Like. Jennifer's body like.
[00:13:12] I'm sorry, I'm also a work of cinema. That is it. I'm sick literally. Or to so it's crazy to me. So sometimes it just doesn't it just doesn't hit.
[00:13:23] But yeah, we did do an episode on trick or treat around Halloween and I thought it was funny because we released that episode on October 24th and literally the next day they said, oh, the sequel is a development.
[00:13:35] So we we missed the train of that we can talk about it back. Did you miss the train or are you profits your oracles you knew it was coming. That's because we did talk about wanting a sequel like, oh, it's been in development health for like 10 years.
[00:13:49] I wish you would happen and then the next day you manifested it. You're welcome Michael Delordie. I think luckily for well luckily for some of us. That movie he has committed to making our.
[00:14:06] Yeah, campus was PG 13 and I think it's one of our first if not the first PG 13 movie. We've definitely done another PG 13. Okay, because I've talked about how oh. This would be better if it wasn't. Okay, that's true. That's for yeah. Look at that.
[00:14:21] I get into a good example. Is Megan PG 13? Hmm. Yeah, because remember I was like I really hope the sequel is are because they wanted it to be are and then the studios were like, oh, why'd release, you know, you want it to be as marketable as possible.
[00:14:38] And I just are. I want Megan absolutely destroying people. We was our. It should it wasn't it should have been. They were powered. Okay, yeah, I agree. I agree. That's honestly kind of this movie too though.
[00:14:54] They had issues getting green lit and so then they until they agreed to make it PG 13 that's when the studio is like, okay, we'll do it. Yeah. It's hard to make Christmas movies or because of the. The Christians.
[00:15:15] It is a holiday that people don't really like when you make it horror. I personally like it when. Yeah, he's going to say I would have liked it this movie was darker. I think I would have liked if it was scarier.
[00:15:33] Yeah, I think if they had just like pushed it. Honestly almost like either way a little bit more it would have been like really really good like if it had been a little bit more over the top can be.
[00:15:46] Even with like more over the top can't go or yeah, or if it had been funny or little bit more scary it would have been.
[00:15:54] Yeah, I hear it's hard when you have to ride that line because that's kind of where you get to the point of like people don't know how to take the movie.
[00:16:03] Tyler my husband he was watching with me like during parts of it. He goes, what is the tone of this movie like I don't understand.
[00:16:09] He's like, is it supposed to be funny or is it supposed to be scary and I was like they're writing some middle line right now and I don't know that they're doing.
[00:16:15] Don't know that they're doing a great job of it, but I agree it should have been funnier or it should have been scarier and I think it would have been easier to like pick up on. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:16:25] I mean it doesn't really help when you have Tony Colette going both the wall scary and then you have the guy from community as her husband. You mean parks and vacants. That's what I'm sorry. It's like when was Joel McHale?
[00:16:42] What are the mockumentary shows you know what I mean? Yes. It's so funny too because she really was giving it everything and there was a whole part where the brother-in-law gets like dragged out the window by the creepy elves and he gave nothing. He was like, oh no.
[00:16:59] And he was like, well, did literally just like, was there for a fun time? Yes, not usually is. Oh yeah, and I think it's funny too because the storyboard artist was drawing David Keckner as the uncle before he was even cast.
[00:17:16] He was like this is going to be. Yeah, sure. That's adorable. I'm bound because what's his name is a guy from Parks and Rick? Adam Scott. Yes, Adam Scott is a very good like dramatic actor. He's very good.
[00:17:33] So there was no reason for him to not, I mean he couldn't match Tony. Yeah, but at least like, I made it a bit. He gave it his all for most of it. It was just like some scenes.
[00:17:44] I was like, oh, you were so sick of this movie. When you got to the point that you were done. I kind of liked watching him in some scenes where he was in the background.
[00:17:53] Like there's one scene where Tony Caledts like telling her daughter that she needs to go have girl time with the other cousins who were like basically raised like their dad wanted boys. And he's just in the background like watching the two girls wrestle and he's like,
[00:18:06] I'm like that's Adam Scott. That is not character in this movie. Yes, his genuine reaction to this. Oh God. Also okay, I don't have a kid but Katie does and stuff is going to. So would you let them out by themselves in the middle of a whiteout blizzard?
[00:18:30] Because I grew up in Colorado and we were not allowed to go out if it was a blizzard. Like there were people who died in their driveway because they would get lost because it's a whiteout. So like you just don't do that.
[00:18:40] No, our blizzers are really bad and when we've had them and no, no, no, no, no, no. Like you if you went anywhere in a blizzard, you went with a group of people. Like it was a freaking dawner party. Like you just.
[00:18:51] You went you went with the group. You were going to reenact the dead love passes with it. Like together. I'm trying to think of how many of these I can include. You go and keep going.
[00:19:04] Yeah, but no, you would never go by yourself and nobody would let you go by yourself. It's just too dangerous. Yeah, that's why I was so confused when I guess can't you listen to Arizona? So that. I've never seen no. But. But like that, I just.
[00:19:19] Even down the street like even down the street by yourself. Like I just don't see it like I feel like your parent would like walk you there and then walk back. So that part I was like, I get it. It's for the plot, but.
[00:19:32] No, what stuck out to me was she was not wearing clothes. Yes, she wasn't dressed very well. No, like she didn't have like when do you wear like a snow bib at that point at the very least? You'd have like three different layers on under your jacket.
[00:19:50] You'd be wearing like four pairs of pants, glosses. You'd be wearing everything. There's no way you're going out and just like my jeans and my cute little Abercrombie. Best like you're not doing that. No way. No way. Okay, see I. I don't even.
[00:20:05] Oh, I don't even own a snow bib. I've never even been in the same room as us. No, babe. And even I know. She's not wearing that in the bush. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:20:15] I mean, I feel like she would try to wear that because there's definitely that type of thing. Definitely that type of like your teenage years where you're like, it's not that cold.
[00:20:23] And there's like all the boys wearing like those basketball shorts in the middle of winter and you're like, It's negative 20. Like let's come down. There's definitely that like teenage rebellion years where you're like, I'm going to look cute instead of being warm.
[00:20:39] But I don't think the parents would allow it. I don't think a parent would allow you to go out in the middle of a blizzard. That's just me. Yeah. Also, she wasn't wearing that many layers. So like, why was she not running faster from crampus?
[00:20:50] Like you weren't wearing a lot girl. You need to pick up the pace because you were in like a marshmallow suit. I could understand why you were so slow. But like go. Also parallel. She was running parallel to him. Yeah. The entire time.
[00:21:06] Like, her particular run away from him. What did that kind of guy? Because she was trying to run whole. You know what I mean? Like when you're a kid, you're like, Oh, that's safe. You're like, I'm going to get to my parents.
[00:21:17] You're not thinking like, Oh, I'm going to run as far away as possible. And also, I think that shot. Like, I don't even know if she knew he was up there. Did she? Did she look like she did? I think she was freaking out. Yeah.
[00:21:31] And the question was hiding under the car. Yeah. And I would run through people's backyards. Like if this is my neighborhood, I know how to the fastest route home that isn't just a main road. Like you go through people's yards. You know all the shortcuts.
[00:21:42] And in someone's yard, you might have a better chance of hiding than under a car. Yeah. So anyway, deserve to die first. That's to be best. Yeah. Um, who? Okay. This is actually a really important question. Who wins in a fight? Crampus or Kevin McAllister. Think about it.
[00:22:13] Oh, timely because he just got his Hollywood. He's dark on the walk of fame. Yes, right. I know. I wasn't sure if it was for a long time. Yeah. I watched it like two in the morning and kind of teared up a little bit.
[00:22:28] I was like, oh my god, you're my friend this long. Oh, you. Uh, two child stars who made it out. I love it. Yeah. I do it all right now. That's really nice to see. Yeah. But I think Kevin McAllister would kick crab. This is ass. We honest.
[00:22:44] That kid had balls of steel. He was scared of nothing. Like you joke about being a built-in friend. Kind of a mecalator is actually him. Why is that? Yo, great. I've never seen that movie. Oh my god, Katie. I know you're talking about home alone.
[00:23:02] You've never seen home alone. No. Are you okay? We were a Christmas story family. Oh, I'm so sorry. Yeah, that's rough. My mom has the lamp in her window 24. Seven. All year round. It's full size. I should watch it though.
[00:23:25] Yeah, you and she couldn't start a Christmas movie. It's five. I'd be so not just I'd be sitting here like, did you love it for every single one? I love Christmas movies. That's just one that has escaped me somehow. I don't know how you'll have the best time.
[00:23:42] I promise. Yeah, watch it. It holds up for sure. And two is good too. The second one is also really, really good. That's what it's like. It's like a sequel. That's actually just as good as the original is Catherine O'Hara and it as well. Yeah, yeah.
[00:23:56] And they leave him home alone. They leave him. So it's a little bit too much. Just him. Yeah. iconic. The second one made me afraid of airports for a really long time. So I was able to get the airport. He gets lost in the airport.
[00:24:11] It gets on the run plane. So full. Yeah. So I was afraid for it too. Lost in New York. A horror movie. It was to me at eight years old. I almost had that though.
[00:24:29] I went back to visit my family and I got off the plane and I had just completely forgotten the fact that they were redoing the Kansas City Airport. That's where I was flying into. And I walked off the plane and I was like, oh, my god.
[00:24:45] Like, I home alone too. Like, I can't do this now. Where I'm supposed to be. How did they let me get on this plane? And so I feel that fear because I had it for like a good 30 seconds before I realized this is just the new airport.
[00:25:00] Oh, truly so scary. And I don't know what I was afraid of because by the time I was on planes, it was after 9 11. So like they were checking your boarding pass before you got on anything. You were not going to get on a random plane.
[00:25:12] No, it's really it's a lot harder to get on. That's why you're not supposed to be on now. Oh, so in the movie there's like two fan theories about the big and what it means. And I need to know which side you guys are.
[00:25:35] So one people think that the angles and our family are trapped in a snow globe and like condemn to repeat Christmas forever in Ukraine. This is lounge. Two, they were given a second chance.
[00:25:50] And the snow globe scene at the end is just his way of watching over you to make sure you don't lose your Christmas spirit. Yeah. Michael Doreny's refused to say which one's correct. So I want to know which one you guys think is true.
[00:26:10] I feel like the fact that there was such a dreamy filter over at the beginning lends itself a little bit to the first one that they're like not in reality anymore. And they just live in the snow globe.
[00:26:22] But I also kind of like the idea that Krabbas just like comes around and like looks at all his little snow comes and it's just like naughty time to break it. The Wikipedia article spells out one of those pretty explicitly and it's the second one.
[00:26:41] It's that they get a second chance. But I do agree with like the like dreamy filter that the ultimate punishment for them would be to have to relive that day over and over again. That's there. They went to hell.
[00:27:00] Yeah, I definitely this is one where I like both a lot. Like both theories I think I would be fine with. What I do think I kind of like like stuff said that he's like giving up a second. But as long as you're good.
[00:27:15] But I do kind of like that because I think like a lot of the movie was about Max kind of correcting the grandma's mistakes. Some like they would kind of suck if he like realized that you know he did something wrong and tried to
[00:27:32] fix it and still was punished for it. I like to believe people can change. It's definitely the more hopeful ending. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Hmm. Also the mom alludes to Max's noodle incident. Yes and they never elaborate on it like what happened? What was the noodle incident?
[00:28:02] So I also was like what is this noodle incident? Can I find out any theories? Apparently they just stole it from Calvin and Hogs. Like that's a wrongdoing joke in the Calvin and Hogs comic strip about like the noodle
[00:28:15] incident that they never explained it. So they're like, oh wouldn't be funny if we just put it in the noodle incident. And never told us so spend the rest of my life thinking about what the noodle incident is.
[00:28:28] I got to know the kid has such a like genuine reaction to the mom saying that to or the dad being like what what noodle incident? Like he just has this like cute little like smart gunned face.
[00:28:40] So yeah that that offered me I really wanted to know what it was. Yeah he was such a cutie pie of the kid and then I also love that he could fight. So that was my favorite bit like he's so adorable and then he's like
[00:28:54] bring up. Come on let's go like let's go. Square up for sure. Yeah, he was very cute. His little like curly hair. Oh yeah. So cute. Yeah. They did a really good job casting I think.
[00:29:15] Unfortunately for some of the kids I think because they were in some very like a bully of all casting types, but yeah it did a really good job. The only ones that I think I didn't believe are related were the two sisters was Sarah and Linda the moms.
[00:29:34] They were the only two because they're supposed to be related but I was like you guys don't look alike but I felt like the families all like the kids and the parents looked really like well put
[00:29:42] together. But when they when the Linda and whoever Howard I think is the husband but they came in I was like okay who are you related to? Oh like who?
[00:29:52] Which one of them because I can't figure it out and then they were like oh they're sisters and I was like they sure. Well Beth I think Beth and Stevie I think are actually related yeah but their sisters in real life that's cool.
[00:30:06] Yeah they play cousins and the livi. So that's kind of funny. Yeah. Which what would you rather play? Beth or Stevie? Yeah because I'm like Stevie's the more like like I feel like you're the kids in your class would watch the movie and be like oh you're
[00:30:25] you're Stevie tough girl. Like Beth's like the cute one but also best in it for like three minutes. That's what I'm saying is like when they casted this they did a really good job
[00:30:38] picking kids for like the part that they were going to play but like can you imagine being that kid and like haven't been picked for that part? Yeah that's when that's one thing I don't like about like
[00:30:47] like stereotypes and movies is like you had to play that stereotype and like you were picked for a reason. I'm not just like what yeah yeah. I forgot the question though what was the question? Oh sorry. You'd rather play. Oh the coldness often.
[00:31:09] My Stevie is like I feel like Beth was more likeable like I didn't have a problem with her character so I feel like she was like a bowl she dies easy.
[00:31:22] I also don't think that I could ever get cast as a Stevie character like I'm not big enough to like look like I could wrestle someone. Like no one would believe me. Yeah you can't really tell I can't remember well you can but
[00:31:38] she stands up she's about the same heights. I have like five two five three it would not work no one would believe me. Five three hundred pounds so getting wet. Just a little guy. Just a little guy. Who would you play me?
[00:31:56] I think I'm more of a Stevie type. Because I'm tough. Yeah. Well you'll see that if you're taller than so. I'm like Cassidy would wrestle in Knox someone's tooth out. Be like oh for my mantle.
[00:32:14] A mandal of teeth. I think you have a tooth collection. Only one real though. Only one for now. I promise you're all of my kids teeth. That's so kind of you. Yeah. What am I going to do with them?
[00:32:34] That's fair. Some people keep them and I'm like I don't think I need my child's teeth in my house. Look that's kind of weird. Yeah somebody else has a better use for them.
[00:32:45] Or power to them. Yeah you know what Cassidy I'll mail you his teeth as well. I'll mail you my teeth. You can take a just collecting your old teeth from around the world. Yeah I think it makes it infinitely more creepy if there are children's.
[00:33:00] How old are you when you lose your teeth? Okay right. I think younger than that. Yeah I mean he says losing hers at four. A couple of hers. Four. Wow. My kids four. Oh six to eight six to eight is yeah average. Should
[00:33:15] Okay. Oh my gosh crazy. I know when I like moved away from my mom she was like oh do you want your child to teeth? And I was like no why would I want teeth and now I'm like idiot.
[00:33:32] Did you throw them away? Yeah there. Oh no. I feel like you kept them this long like just hold on to it. Yeah. Yeah yeah. Um that's in the movie that we watched. Yeah can I can I tell a really fun
[00:33:52] fact that I found about like just the production as a whole. Yes. Most of this was done on a sound stage like 95% of it which means not a lot of it was shot outside. A lot of the houses were
[00:34:06] um just digital and a lot of homework were recreated after like 80s movies. How does house and age movies? But the coolest thing that that I thought was the coolest was the breath of like the cold breath was created by just people random standings standing in a
[00:34:31] freezer saying the lines that the actors and actors would then go and say they recorded that and then they like CGI like digitally removed the breath but they were creating and put that over the actors and actresses imposed. Oh that's so much. Yeah that's
[00:34:52] yeah. They had to record them they basically had to record the entire movie twice. Yeah like you're in the brain but you have to be the cold one. He's been eating your breath. Yes that's just just go somewhere cold to record. Just record them maybe somewhere cold.
[00:35:08] Outside sorry. Also it's on a sound stage like you can control this image. Yeah I can hold it. Yeah but I think I think there is something to say about the like ethics of it. You can
[00:35:21] wear as the person that is not acting. You can wear whatever you want in a freezer when it's just your breath that's being digitally removed and then put over somebody else's face you know what I mean?
[00:35:33] So they were probably comfy drinking hot chocolate not as cold as maybe the actors and actresses would have been if they were recording in the middle of the entire talk at indesender. I also wonder
[00:35:45] if they were like child labor laws where they couldn't have the kids outside and where it's cold enough to see their breath so I wonder if that also contributed. Yeah that's a good thing
[00:35:54] working with kids can be. Yeah like the adults asked. Yeah but actually on that note because I think in the DVD commentary they were talking about how the scene of how it junior
[00:36:11] sipping a drink of like the spike touch chocolate. They flagged that because they were like this might get us a bad rating because this is a kid essentially drinking alcohol right like it's spiked
[00:36:25] and they were just like okay but it's okay to show him getting swallowed by a clown monster like that's time. Yeah one of those is distinctly not like the other. Yeah you're showing him your ripped apart
[00:36:38] is a little bit worse. Another thing that they really didn't like apparently in like editing and getting it published essentially was at the baby cried too often. You know how often the
[00:36:56] baby cried so they had to dial that back a little bit. If I was a producer I'd be like let's let's tone that back up. But it was it was for the tone of it not because it was annoying. Yeah yeah
[00:37:11] interesting I mean yeah I think babies in general when they cry and movies tend to elicit more of like a serious response from people so maybe that's where it was like uh can't be funny if
[00:37:22] the baby is making us feel like wow this is probably bad. Yeah yeah yeah yeah. I think there's also like a subset of people who will watch a movie and be like how did they get
[00:37:35] the baby to cry and it's like they just do that like all the time like it's not that hard. Yeah you like a baby wrong. They'll cry they wait for a to cry and they start recording.
[00:37:47] Right like it takes 10 seconds yeah. It's a lot of ethically questionable things that happen in the movie industry I don't think babies cry on screen as well. Yeah yeah that's their state of being.
[00:38:04] Also though this movie kind of made me want to watch both Shrek because of the Ducky gingerbread men and also hammers. Oh you know how I feel about tremors. I do because I feel the same way. I don't even consider tremors a horror movie like that movie
[00:38:22] is a comfort film like Kevin Bacon fighting earthworms from space everything to me. It is without a doubt Kevin Bacon's best film. Best film. I'm sorry. Well watch you never never heard of it. Never heard of it. I've seen tremors like I'm not even joking like 95 times.
[00:38:45] Yeah it's so special to me. Yeah I watch that as a kid a lot. grew up and was like oh wow it holds up. It really does. So good. I haven't seen it.
[00:38:58] Oh thank you. I love it. Yeah you would really enjoy it. It's it's gonna change your life. Yeah I cannot wait. I cannot wait. Kevin Bacon, Reba McIntyre. It's everything. Oh my god Reba plays the best character in the movie. She plays the best character.
[00:39:18] Oh she's that bitch. She's a single mom who works too job so loved her kids and never stops. Oh I got to get out of wait. Yeah yeah. He's definitely on the list. Oh yeah. I will be here. I will be here. I'm just so intently.
[00:39:37] I mean I think I already know the answer but like how scary did you guys think it was? On a scale of one to five. Oh one. Yeah it's a one. It is a one. Yeah that's scary. What's really scary is losing the Christmas spirit. Yeah.
[00:39:59] Yeah. Just kidding. How sexy. What do you think it was? I gave it a two. Was that lower? The tongue is of the tongue. I'm not saying I would smash crimps. I think you will. That's exactly what I'm not shocked.
[00:40:36] I went into this movie so another episode that we're doing kind of down the line is Boba Duke. And I got my wires crossed and I went into this movie thinking that crampus was a gay icon.
[00:40:47] I mean, honestly I see it. Yeah I see it. I also gave it a two. Oh yeah look at that. I would give it a two because I love his fit. It's just it's giving you know like he can do
[00:41:04] like the shoulder thing with it you know. Yeah the cape is like mysterious. He's wearing a mask a little bit. It's like this under there. Yeah. I'll find out. The answer of the opera. Like I want to see what's
[00:41:15] under show me the face. It's a giraffe tongue. Way in the alert. Give me worse. Yeah. I'm not mad about it. Oh okay. How fucked up? It wasn't really I mean like one. Yeah. I didn't find it super fun. Like yeah, super fucked up. It was just
[00:41:40] a lot of animated toys for the most part and I'm like I mean I've seen the nightmare before Christmas and it's the same vibe where you're just getting attacked by your toys. Literally. Yeah I might have
[00:41:51] given it a 1.5 for the nail gun scene if it weren't gingerbread men shooting the nail gun. Yeah and then they get eaten by the dog like that's not. Yeah it's not super terrible. No.
[00:42:05] Yeah I agree. I give it one as well. It's just it's it's a silly good food time. Yeah really is. It's so fun. All right overall. It's definitely good first. Okay.
[00:42:23] Oh okay so this is like my summary of all my scores that I'd given to far just like how I feel. This is like overall how you feel about the movie. One to five. One to five.
[00:42:34] What is your part? I could watch this again for Christmas. This is a three. Yeah. I like it. It's fresh. I can watch this for Christmas. I really could. I understand
[00:42:51] the people on reddit now. Like yeah. Katie? I also came into three. It's nice. Yeah it's so fun. It's just a fun cute little round. Yeah guys. Do you want to break this? I gave it a
[00:43:09] second. Yes. Freeze across the board we're like having it like 10. No but I agree. I think it's just super fun. It's like it's literally just a fun time. Like it's not really
[00:43:25] half to be her reddit. I think it's just a fun movie. No and I think you get some friends together and drink some mold wine. You're going to have a great time watching this. Yeah. Just don't take
[00:43:35] it seriously. It's silly coffee. It's a good time. Yeah. 100%. Oh really? All right well now it's the most important question of the entire podcast and that is would you survive this situation?
[00:43:55] Yeah because I'm not going to lose the Christmas spirit. It's a cramp. This is even we could have show off at my house. Rick and November first jingle bells bitch like it's time. No.
[00:44:06] So yeah I think I would survive just because he would never think to come to my house. I you know what? I can actually support that. A world in which this test loses the Christmas
[00:44:18] spirit is not a world I know. What about you Katie? Yeah I'm 11. Yeah I also enjoy the Christmas spirit. I'm not I'm not a November first. Girlie I'm a December first Girlie but December first hits
[00:44:37] and I'm boss at a wall. Hell yeah. Cassidy. I am not a Christmas spirit. I was like she's dead. She's in the fiery pitch. Oh my goodness. Here's my thing though. I think I could still live because
[00:44:56] let's say I invite crampus on accident. Sorry everybody. I was like is it an accident? I do think that would take Max's route up. Well you know. But like I think I would take his like
[00:45:14] if all you need is for me to have the Christmas spirit again like yeah and also with my entire family's in danger and I think you wait to save them is I'm going way before Max did as soon as
[00:45:26] crampus comes in I'm like hey I did it take me like I was so sorry. Just kidding was joke. So I think I could I think I could manage the situation and really if you if you think about it
[00:45:40] in the way of they got a second chance no one even dies so pretty survivable movie. Since since your family is the only family that's being visited by crampus who and your family dies first.
[00:45:58] Is it it's like my extended family there's a lot of us mother fucker. Probably yeah. That's hard though because I feel like the first person is like the person who like wanders off on their own
[00:46:15] it's your sister. I know why I was kind of like but also because my sister is kind of a skeptic like me so she would absolutely be like a wanderer especially if her husband wasn't there like let's
[00:46:32] say it's her boyfriend and I'm not married yeah she would absolutely be like I'm gonna go there's that not I was gonna say she I feel like I've never like physically met her but I feel like from
[00:46:43] everything you've ever told me about her but she would absolutely be like you know what I'm gonna go check on him and you'd never see her again. Yeah yeah. Sorry. Wait does that make your mom Tony Colette? Obviously. I do kind of have an uncle like how or
[00:47:06] so this everybody has an uncle. Everybody works like that's true. All right I like it typically Katie predicts next week's movie but we had to film out of order so she's already seen it so
[00:47:21] yeah yeah yeah yeah I hate predicting the movies. You know it's coming every time you could have plots written down for every movie. What's that no fun? Trat no fun. All right well that's kind of everything thank you for picking this movie I think it's fun
[00:47:47] I know some people think it's rotten but whatever yeah I'm gonna put a mood like I don't know what's really just have a look at it. Yeah we can't help their bad taste. Exactly.
[00:47:57] But yeah this is such a fun movie it's definitely like it gets you into the holiday spirit so crap this won't be visiting me this year I guess. Yeah the opposite effect.
